discussion: “Pro Domo Nostro
Thurs 11 Jan
Choose one aspect of radio that interests you and come to class prepared to informally share it. You could talk about a particular experience with radio that made you want to take the class. Or perhaps there is, more generally and less personally, a specific use of radio that you’re familiar with, or part of its history, that has informed your interest. This first discussion is meant just to informally set the stage and identify possible trajectories of interest for our open work together this semester.

Thurs 18 Jan
discussion: “Radio as a Means of Communication”
Write a couple of paragraphs in response to this essay. In your response try to elucidate the theory of radio that Brecht is making here. Imagine the theory as a proposal for a possible media form, let’s call it radio. What features might this media form possess? And what kind of content might make sense for it to transmit?
